SF suggests tax rises to fund proper health service
16/02/2006 - 11:45:19Sinn Féin has promised to consider raising income taxes to fund a proper health service if it is part of the next Government.
The vow is contained in a policy document on improving the health service that also calls for the scrapping of private health insurance.
Launching the document today, Sinn Féin TD Caoimhghín Ó Caoláin said: "If it is the case that we have to look at an increase in taxation, then this party is not afraid to say that we are prepared to increase taxation in order to guarantee a state-of-the-art, fully accessible and free healthcare system."
