Report recommends creation of hospital league tables
16/02/2006 - 16:27:16A report published today by the Oireachtas Public Accounts Committee shows that 4.6 million people were treated by the health service in 2004.
The report is recommending the creation of a system that would measure the outcomes of hospital visits. This could lead to the creation of league tables in the sector if implemented.
It also states that agency nurses cost 1.9 times more than staff nurses to employ
The report goes on to say that recorded overpayments totalled €39.4m against welfare payments of over €10bn.
