New car registrations up 11%
16/02/2006 - 11:57:46The number of new private cars licensed for the first time in 2005 was 166,270, an increase of 11.1% on the figure for 2004.
There were 38,207 second-hand private cars licensed in 2005, compared with 21,391 in 2004, an increase of 78.6%.
The number of new goods vehicles licensed in 2005 was 38,396 compared with 31,165 in 2004, an increase of 23.2%.
The total number of all vehicles licensed in 2005 was 280,584 compared with 234,859 in 2004, an increase of 19.5%.
The highest number of new private cars licensed in 2005 classified by make are Toyota (23,490) followed by Ford (19,735), Volkswagen (14,599), Nissan (13,078), Opel (11,870) and Renault (10,689).
