Pink defends 'Stupid' song
15/02/2006 - 08:05:58Outspoken pop star Pink has defended her song Stupid Girls - insisting she has a duty to highlight the actions of fame hungry female celebrities.
The singer is disgusted by stars including Paris Hilton and Jessica Simpson - who she parodies in the music video - because they are dangerous role models.
She says: "Of course a lot of people are relieved that someone has finally said something about the mindless epidemic of unhealthy girls out there promoting consumerism and escapism.
"There is absolutely nothing wrong with being sexy, feeling sexy, or dressing sexy. My point is this -smart and sexy are not oil and water. They can actually work together.
"You don't need to dumb yourself down in order to be cute. You also don't have to have the latest $10,000 handbag to be cool."
