Oasis chain to stock organic clothes
Fashion chain Oasis is to stock a range of organic clothes in response to demand from eco-conscious customers, the retailer said today.
The Future Organic line of jeans, jackets and t-shirts will be toxin-free and certified organic.
Its April launch reflects a growing “green” trend among high street clothing chains.
M&S will stock Fair-trade cotton t-shirts and socks from next month. Topshop is also looking into stocking garments made from ethically-traded cloth.
Stella McCartney’s limited edition H&M Collection included a 100% organic t-shirt.
Oasis’ Future Organic range is made up of eight garments made from denim and jersey in blue, mint and grey colours.
The chain’s design director Nadia Jones said: “At Oasis we recognise there has been a shift in consumer spending towards the purchasing of organic products.
“There is a more environmentally conscious consumer out there who is looking for organically produced clothing.”
The denim used in Future Organic garments is sourced from Turkey and the jersey from Portugal.
