ISEQ gains 34 points
The Irish index of shares gained 33.36 points to close at 7661.44 today.
Irish Life & Permanent led the charge in what was a mostly positive day for the financials, closing up 36c at €17.65. AIB was up 11c to €18.96, while Bank of Ireland was unchanged at €14.40.
Anglo Irish Bank was in the red today, however, losing 9c to close at €12.80.
Meanwhile, pharmaceutical giant Elan crept back towards the €12 mark, gaining 25c to €11.95.
Budget airline Ryanair shares were up 3c to €7.80 as it announced an online agreement with property specialists Majestic Worldwide, focusing initially on Spain and Portugal.
Majestic has properties for sale ranging from studio apartments to luxury villas. Under the terms of the deal, Ryanair passengers will see links to the Majestic site on www.ryanair.com. On their side, Majestic will be able to track which of their potential customers access their site through Ryanair.com.
A Ryanair spokesman said today that, depending on how the deal performs, it may be expanded to include properties in Italy and France.
