Roadside bomb blasts wound nine in Baghdad

Roadside bombs and mortar fire rumbled throughout the Iraqi capital Baghdad today and at least nine people were wounded.

Police also found the bullet-riddled bodies of eight men in different locations throughout Baghdad, but the identities of the victims were unclear, police said.

A roadside bomb blast at 8am local time struck a police patrol in southern Baghdad’s violent Dora neighbourhood, wounding two policemen, police said.

Two mortar rounds launched from Dora detonated nearby, but caused no casualties.

Another police patrol was targeted at 8.40am near the University of Technology in Baghdad’s Karradah district, wounding six civilians and one policeman, police said.
