Kelly hails 'extraordinary' handballer

14/02/2006 - 10:48:48
Eoin Kennedy picked up his third Vodafone Handballer of the Year award yesterday and GAA President Sean Kelly hailed the Dubliner's achievements as "extraordinary".

The St Brigid's, Blancharstown clubman scooped the prize, adding to his 2002 and 2004 awards, after another brilliant year. Kennedy won four senior All-Ireland medals in 2005 - winning both the All-Ireland 40x20 and 60x30 senior doubles titles with his partner Egin Jensen.

He also claimed the All-Ireland 40x20 senior singles gold medal and retained his All-Ireland hardball crown.

Kelly said: "There have been many great exponents of the game of handball. Now, Eoin Kennedy's is deservedly included on that roll of hour. His achievements have been extraordinary."
