Babayaro appeal to be heard
14/02/2006 - 10:24:33Newcastle defender Celelstine Babayaro will have his appeal against his red card at Aston Villa heard on Thursday.
The 27-year-old Nigerian was dismissed for a professional foul on Villa striker Milan Baros 61 minutes into Saturday’s 2-1 Barclays Premiership in the midlands.
Having already been banned in retrospect for a clash with Everton midfielder Tim Cahill earlier this season, Babayaro now faces a two-match suspension if he is unsuccessful.
“Celestine Babayaro’s case will be heard on Thursday,” an FA spokesman told PA Sport.
Babayaro, a £2.5m (€3.65m) signing from Chelsea, will miss Saturday’s FA Cup fifth-round clash with Southampton and the league game against Charlton next Wednesday if his appeal is rejected.
