Wenger: Football the best cure for Campbell
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger will have talks with troubled defender Sol Campbell today.
England centre-half Campbell returned to Arsenal’s London Colney training ground yesterday morning after taking four days off.
“I’m happy he is back,” Wenger told the Daily Mirror. “It was the players’ day off. I know Sol was in and I will see him on Tuesday and we will talk then.
“We will help Sol to bounce back quickly and to focus and concentrate on the game of football, which is the best cure.”
Campbell endured a torrid 45 minutes in Arsenal’s defeat to West Ham on Wednesday night. He was substituted at half-time and left Highbury immediately.
Wenger put Campbell’s departure down to “exceptional circumstances” and admitted the player was down and going through a “difficult period” in his life.
