North: Two in hospital after stabbing

Two men were stabbed in an attack in the centre of Derry early today.

The pair were in the Strand Road area of the city at around 12.30am when they were attacked by a man in his 30s who was armed with a knife, said police.

A man in his 20s suffered serious stab wounds and the other, in his late teens, less serious injuries.

Both men were admitted to the Altnagelvin Hospital in Derry where one was reported to be ill but stable and the other ill.

The area around the attack remained sealed off as police examined the scene.
