DPP to get file this week on death of Evelyn Joel
The Gardaí are reportedly set to send a file to the DPP this week in relation to the death of Co Wexford Evelyn Joel last month.
The 58-year-old arthritis and MS sufferer died in hospital on January 6 after being found in a severely malnourised state at the house in Enniscorthy that she shared with her daughter's family.
The ambulance crew are believed to have contacted gardaí after finding Ms Joel in horrendous circumstances, lying in her own faeces with maggots on her body and weighing just four-and-a-half stone.
Her daughter says she asked her mother to go into a nursing home, but she was stubborn and would not co-operate and had also begun refusing food.
The Gardaí have interviewed a number of people in connection with the case and also arrested a man and woman in Enniscorthy for questioning before releasing them without charge.
