Study finds many migrant workers are here for long haul

Many of Ireland's migrant workers are putting down roots in the country and planning to stay for the long haul, according to AIB Global Treasury Services.

The company said a study it conducted using data from the Central Statistics Office found that non-nationals were more evenly distributed across the labour market than previously thought.

It said this, coupled with the fact that migrants are already beginning to buy property of their own, showed they were unlikely to return home if the Irish economy slowed down.
