Labour slams govt approach to children’s hospital services

The Labour Party has slammed the Government's haphazard approach to developing paediatric hospital services in Dublin.

The criticism comes ahead of the publication of a consultants' report on whether services should be centralised in one large children's hospital in the capital.

The review was commissioned by the Health Service Executive late last year despite the fact that almost €50m has already been spent on moves to replace Temple Street Children's Hospital with a new facility.

The Temple Street development was put on hold pending the compilation of the report and Labour TD Joe Costello is now accusing the Government of leaving parents and staff "high and dry".
