Newcastle inspect
31/01/2006 - 08:14:07Newcastle will inspect the track at 3pm today ahead of tomorrow’s scheduled meeting.
The track is frozen in places after two cold nights and clerk of the course James Armstrong is keen to assess the chances of racing taking place.
“We had a very cold night on Sunday and then temperatures didn’t get above plus four on Monday so by 4pm we were still unraceable,” explained Armstrong.
“We got down to minus six last night so two heavy frosts on the bounce have taken their toll.
“We want to see what improvement there is today but we are forecast somewhere around minus two or three tonight with temperatures of plus three or four tomorrow.
“Obviously we have to see how things change and then make a decision about what we will do.”
