Eto'o warning for Chelsea
Barcelona striker Samuel Eto’o has warned Chelsea the Catalan giants will be harder to beat when they meet in the Champions League for the second year running.
Chelsea came out on top in their last-16 two-leg tie last season, winning 4-2 at home following a 2-1 defeat at the Nou Camp.
But Cameroon striker Eto’o, currently further enhancing his reputation at the African Nations Cup, has warned the Premiership champions Barca will be even better when they meet on February 22.
He told FourFourTwo magazine: “They will be beautiful games but Chelsea should be aware.
“These games will have nothing to do with last year because Barca are now stronger in every position.
“This game will not decide who wins the Champions League but what Barca have to do is play the two games as if they were finals because really they are like finals.
“But I know that every Chelea player is first class. I can’t understand why they don’t play with Shaun Wright-Phillips though. He and Rooney are the best young English players.
“These teams mean so much to football at the moment.”
The former Mallorca striker, who has been regularly linked with a move to Stamford Bridge, said: “I’m looking forward to playing in England again. The atmosphere was great at Chelsea. They roared on their team. The crowds get behind their teams.
“It’s not like that here. It’s important that football should be played in grounds where the fans roar their teams.”
