SF criticises IMC report leaks

30/01/2006 - 14:13:37
Sinn Féin has criticised the leaking of details from the latest report of the body set up to monitor paramilitary ceasefires in the North.

Media reports today said the Independent Monitoring Commission assessment would say the IRA was still involved in intelligence-gathering, despite promising last year to end all non-peaceful activity.

The assessment will also reportedly say that individual IRA members remain involved in crime, though this may not be sanctioned by the leadership.

Sinn Féin has described the leaks as malicious, claiming they were intended to damage the chances of restoring devolved government in the North.
