€78m to be spent on refurbishing schools this summer

Education Minister Mary Hanafin has announced plans to spend €78m on upgrading and refurbishing Irish schools this summer.

Ms Hanafin said 740 schools would benefit from the funding under the annual summer works programme.

The money will be spent on gas and electrical works, as well as the refurbishment of science labs, home economics rooms, roof and window replacements and structural upgrades.
