Sheringham back for West Ham
Teddy Sheringham returned to the West Ham starting XI for the first time since November as Alan Pardew made three changes for today’s FA Cup fourth round tie against Blackburn.
Sheringham started ahead of Marlon Harewood, who was rested for the first time this season and included on the bench.
New £7m (€10.2m) signing Dean Ashton was not considered as he recovers from a groin injury.
Elsewhere Pardew’s hand was forced. Christian Dailly was pressed into duty as an emergency right-back following the departure of Tomas Repka and Shaka Hislop started in goal ahead of the injured Roy Carroll.
While Pardew enjoyed the luxury of rotating his strike force, Hughes was down to the bare bones with Craig Bellamy and Paul Dickov both out.
Shefki Kuqi started as Blackburn’s only recognised striker, supported by David Bentley and Morten Gamst Pedersen.
