Samaras nears City switch
28/01/2006 - 19:03:46Manchester City have agreed a fee of around €9m with Heerenveen for Greek striker Georgios Samaras.
The 20-year-old will complete his move to Eastlands subject to passing a medical and agreeing personal terms.
City previously offered only €4.5m for the highly-rated Greek forward, who went on strike rather than return to training after the Dutch FA ruled Heerenveen’s €13.5m asking price was not too high.
However, the clubs have now agreed on a fee – and Samaras is poised to sign a four-and-a-half year deal with Stuart Pearce’s side.
