Jobe still tops Buick leaderboard

28/01/2006 - 02:42:30
Brandt Jobe fired a five-under-par 67 to maintain his lead after the second round of the Buick Invitational.

Jobe started the tournament with a 65, but posted that score at the North Course, which is playing four shots easier than the South Course.

It did not seem to matter to Jobe that he was on the South Course for his second round.

After two bogeys on his first three holes, Jobe settled down, posting a four-under on the back nine and finishing with a two-stroke lead over Tim Clark and Jesper Parnevik.

Tiger Woods had a chance to move within five shots of Jobe, but made three bogeys on the back nine of the South Course and carded a 68 to finish five under. He is seven shots behind Jobe and tied for 23rd overall.

The biggest swing of the day was by rookie Ryan Palmer, who shot a 76 on the South Course in the first round and then blistered the North Course with a 62.

Corey Pavin and Lee Janzen were among those who failed to make the cut at one under.
