Dublin University 8 Lansdowne 33

Lansdowne moved up to ninth in the Division One table courtesy of a five-try romp at Dublin University.

Player-coach Brian O’Meara came off the bench to convert winger Neil “Horse” Walsh’s 73rd-minute try, but by that time, Lansdowne were already out of sight.

Lansdowne’s record league try-scorer Fiachra Baynes waltzed over for two early tries – ending an excellent January for the former Ireland Sevens international with five tries in four games – and number 8 Jim O’Donovan (24 minutes) and centre Greg Stafford (44) also got in on the scoring act.

The visitors led 19-8 at the break - the college side's points came from a Darren Hayes penalty (13) and a try from flanker Darren Hayes (23).

Scorers: Dublin Uni: Try: Darren Hayes; Pen: Johnny Watt
Lansdowne: Tries: Fiachra Baynes 2, Jim O’Donovan, Greg Stafford, Neil Walshe; Cons: Corey Burt 3, Brian O’Meara
