Carrey: 'Chill out, America'
28/01/2006 - 10:10:26Jim Carrey is urging Americans to stop working so hard and enjoy their lives - or risk eternal loneliness.
The Fun With Dick & Jane star is horrified at the pressure young US citizens are placing on themselves, and is convinced high expectations are destroying the human spirit and killing the American dream.
The Canadian-born actor wants people to focus on their families, and forget about making money.
He says: "It (the American dream) used to be get a house, get a car, put your kids through school and save something for retirement.
"Now it's be Bill Gates or you lose. There's a ton of pressure on people growing up in America to have gargantuan success and it destroys relationships and affects the family.
"It's not just America, but it's very exaggerated here."
