Ireland to learn opponents for Euro 2008 qualifiers today
27/01/2006 - 09:12:30Ireland will learn their opponents for the Euro 2008 qualifiers when the draw for the preliminary stages of the competition is made in Switzerland later today.
Fifty countries are due to divided into seven groups, with the top two teams from each section going through to the finals of the competition.
Ireland are among the fourth seeds along with Bosnia, Belgium, Latvia, Israel, Scotland and Slovenia, meaning they could be up against any of the other countries in the draw.
The top seeds are France, Greece, Holland, Portugal, England, the Czech Republic and Sweden.
Switzerland and Austria automatically qualify for the finals as host nations.
