Palestinian officials delay release of election results
26/01/2006 - 07:45:12Palestinian officials have delayed the release of official results from the Palestinian legislative vote until the end of the day.
Results, initially scheduled to be announced at 9am local time (7am Irish time), will now be released at 7pm local time (5pm Irish time), the Palestinian Central Election Commission said. It gave no reason for the delay.
Officials from the rival Fatah and Hamas parties said early today that Hamas had captured a majority of seats in the parliament, citing people involved in the vote count.
