Curbishley: My focus is on Charlton
Alan Curbishley insists speculation linking him with the England job will have no impact on the way he operates at Charlton.
The 48-year-old Addicks manager is one of the home-grown managers being touted as a suitable successor to Swede Sven-Goran Eriksson, who will stand down after the World Cup this summer.
However after 15 years at Charlton, and frequent rumours linking him with jobs elsewhere, Curbishley believes it would be inappropriate to discuss a potential future appointment.
He told the Evening Standard: “I suppose the speculation was inevitable after what has happened, but I’m definitely not adding to it in any way.
“I have got a job to do at Charlton and that is occupying all my thoughts at the moment.”
Curbishley has 18 months left on his existing deal at The Valley and has held talks with a view to extending his contract.
“We have a big week coming up,” Curbishley added. “We have a difficult FA Cup tie against Leyton Orient on Saturday followed by two big Premiership matches at home to West Brom and then away to Tottenham.
“We have battled our way to some decent results recently and I am looking for us to win at least two of those three next games.”
