Survey debunks myths about users of morning-after pill
26/01/2006 - 07:20:17A survey by the Crisis Pregnancy Agency has reportedly debunked the stereotype of women seeking the morning-after pill after having drunken unprotected sex.
Reports this morning said the survey was carried out among a sample of women seeking emergency contraception at a service run by the Well Woman Centre in Dublin.
Fifty-eight per cent of respondents reportedly admitted that had been drinking when they had sex, but most said they were not very drunk.
A majority of respondents also said they had used some form of contraception at the time and were taking the morning-after pill as a secondary method to avoid pregnancy.
Three quarters said they were in a stable relationship.
