Campbell stays well clear
21/01/2006 - 11:06:11Chad Campbell maintained his four-stroke lead with a four-under-par 68 in the third round of the Bob Hope Chrysler Classic in California.
Campbell finished the day at 19 under on 197 – four shots clear of Scott Verplank (65) and John Senden (68).
First-round leader Pat Perez (70), Phil Mickelson (68) and Billy Andrade (67) are tied for fourth at 13 under.
Campbell had a five-shot lead but then made his first bogey of the tournament, failing to get up-and-down from a greenside bunker on his 17th hole.
It was his first bogey in 60 holes, dating back to last week’s Sony Open, and he now has just two bogeys in 96 holes this year.
England’s Justin Rose ignited his bid for a Ryder Cup debut with a superb eight-under 64 to finish on 204 in a group of six sharing seventh spot.
