Beattie goal secures win for Toffees

James Beattie’s first-half goal gave Everton their first victory over Arsenal since Wayne Rooney’s wonder goal four years ago.

And in a fierce match, Arsenal’s misery was compounded by having Cesc Fabregas sent off in injury time for an incident with Tim Cahill.

Everton had produced a ferocious display of running and tackling that upset Arsenal throughout but they managed to make it three league wins on the trot and have now gone six games undefeated.
