Cottagers miss out on Taylor

19/01/2006 - 13:54:42
Portsmouth have rejected Fulham’s £1.2m (€1.75m) bid for versatile midfielder Matt Taylor.

The London club had been linked with the 24-year-old left-sided player but it is understood they are close to signing Chelsea full-back Wayne Bridge on loan instead.

Subsequently they have not raised their bid for Taylor, who Pompey manager Harry Redknapp is more than happy to keep hold of.

“I never wanted to sell him but there is a good player in Germany who I would have liked to have signed on loan but that isn’t going to happen now by the look of it,” said Redknapp.
