Caherlistrane forward Cormac Bane has won the Connacht GAA Writers' Personality of the Month for December.

Bane, a 22-year-old trainee garda, spearheaded the north Galway club's historic Connacht Intermediate Club final win last month, scoring eight points in the 0-13 to 0-05 defeat of Boyle of Roscommon.

It was Caherlistrane's first ever Connacht intermediate title success. Victory over Clonbur in the Galway final ensured the club's senior status for 2006.

Bane scored a combined total of 20 points (0-15 frees) in Caherlistrane's recent victories against Clonbur, Mayo side Castlebar Mitchels and Boyle.
