Childcare facilities failing to adhere to legal regulations

Inspections by the Health Services Executive have reportedly uncovered widespread breaches of statutory regulations at childcare facilities in the west of the country.

Reports this morning said just 21 of the 160 facilities visited by inspectors were in full compliance with the regulations.

The problems identified reportedly include inadequacies in security, sanitary facilities and fire precautions.

Some facilities were also found to have insufficient heating, no play areas, or toxic or hazardous materials left within reach of children.
