Flights cancelled as Alitalia employees strike
19/01/2006 - 08:49:48Employees at Italy’s Alitalia went on strike today, forcing the state airline to cancel 74 flights.
Unions called the strike over restructuring plans at the money-losing airline that has cut jobs and spun off the airline’s flight unit from its less profitable ground services business.
The Rome-based airline operates 190 aircraft and flies to 500 destinations in more than 100 countries.
Alitalia said it had cancelled 26 domestic and 48 international flights.
