No Pompey contact on Schwarzer
Portsmouth have yet to contact Middlesbrough to follow up their tentative interest in want-away goalkeeper Mark Schwarzer.
Manager Harry Redknapp has identified the 33-year-old Australian as a potential January signing.
Schwarzer shocked Boro by handing in a transfer request last week and was told by boss Steve McClaren he would be allowed to depart.
And although Redknapp is keen, admitting a deal could be done if Portsmouth could meet the club and player’s financial demands, there appears to have been little progress.
Schwarzer’s agent, Barry Silkman, said: “I’ve absolutely no idea what’s going to happen.
“There’s been no direct contact with Middlesbrough on that front. They (Portsmouth) definitely haven’t contacted Middlesbrough so I don’t expect anything to happen at the minute.”
The arrival of new club co-owner Alexandre Gaydamak has injected funds into Portsmouth who are fighting to stay in the Barclays Premiership.
They have made Zimbabwean striker Benjani Mwaruwari a club record £4.1m (€6m) signing and are being linked with deals for Tottenham trio Pedro Mendes, Sean Davis and Noe Pamarot, and Chelsea full-back Glen Johnson.
Former Tottenham and Wolves striker Steffen Iversen is currently on trial at Fratton Park, and is available on a free transfer after leaving Norwegian side Valerenga.
