Injury blow for Southgate
11/01/2006 - 11:25:10Middlesbrough captain Gareth Southgate will be out of action for up to three months after sustaining a suspected stress fracture of an ankle.
The 35-year-old picked up the injury during the FA Cup third-round draw at Nuneaton on Saturday, in which he conceded the penalty from which the non-league club’s striker Gez Murphy secured a replay.
The exact nature of the injury will be confirmed later this afternoon.
