Bridge almost ready to return
Chelsea Bridge, who claimed Trabolgan’s scalp on his only racecourse appearance nearly three years ago, is nearing a return to the racecourse, according to trainer Henrietta Knight.
The eight-year-old scored by a neck that day but has been off the track since with leg trouble and had been entered for a novice hurdle at Ludlow on Thursday.
“He is very well,” said Knight. “Every day I breath a sigh of relief when I find out that he is still sound and his legs are alright. I’m hoping to run him very soon.
“I decided that Ludlow probably wasn’t the best track for him at this stage as I don’t want him doing too much too soon.
“He’s always been a lovely jumper and does everything very well at home.”
In addition to beating Trabolgan in that bumper on his sole start, Knight’s charge also lowered the colours of Mark Pitman’s smart Dempsey and the Robert Alner-trained Distant Thunder.
