ISEQ breaches 7500 threshold
09/01/2006 - 17:53:48The ISEQ index of Irish shares broke through a significant milestone today, finishing up 32.39 points to 7518.61 by the end of day's trading.
The financials sector all recorded positive gains today. Irish Life and Permanent gained the most, finishing up 44c to €17.21. Anglo Irish Bank also made heavy gains, finishing up 25c to €13.20.
AIB rose 4c to €18.49 and Bank of Ireland rose 1c to €13.83.
Pharmaceutical company Elan also recorded heavy gains, finishing up 36c to €12.02.
Oil stocks did well today, with Dragon Oil finishing up 4c to €3.05 and Tullow Oil finishing up 3c to €4.17.
