Morning check for Uttoxeter
Officials at Uttoxeter have moved their inspection ahead of Saturday’s meeting to 8am tomorrow.
Clerk of the course Keith Ottesen have planned to check the track at 3pm today, but he said: “We are three degrees now and are improving temperature-wise – we could get to seven degrees this afternoon.
“I have got two forecasts for overnight. One is for plus four, the other is for zero. If I get plus four overnight I think we have got a shot, but I would be worried if it got down to zero again.
“With the more promising of the two forecasts I have got to give it a look in the morning.
“We had 10 millimetres of rain this morning and it is raining again this afternoon and we could get another eight millimetres this afternoon, although it should be dry overnight.
“We just need everything in the right direction and it could go either way.”
The going at Uttoxeter is currently heavy, frozen in places.
