Central Bank reports further surge in mortgage lending

The Central Bank has reported a further surge in mortgage lending during November, pushing total Irish debt levels to more than €250bn.

In its latest monthly bulletin, the bank said the value of residential mortgages increased by €2.1bn during the month, the highest monthly rise ever recorded

This is a continuation of the trend that has seen the six largest monthly increases on record all occurring in the six months between June and November.

The Central Bank said total lending increased by €5.3bn during November, pushing overall debt levels to €252.3bn.
