Man quizzed over loyalist blackmail claims

Two men were being questioned today about suspected loyalist paramilitary blackmail and extortion.

The pair, aged 20 and 44, were arrested close to a hotel in east Belfast on Wednesday.

Officers from the Police Service’s Organised Crime team carried out the planned operation.

A PSNI spokeswoman added: “They are currently assisting police with their inquiries.”
