CSO figures show continuing strength of Irish economy

Ireland's Gross National Product has increased by 7% in the 12 months to September of this year, according to figures published today by the Central Statistics Office.

The CSO said the value of goods and services produced by Irish companies was just under €37bn in the third quarter of this year and almost €112bn in the first nine months of the year

Elsewhere, the CSO said the volume of consumer spending increased by 6.5% in the year to the end of September, while capital investment was up 7.7% and industrial output rose by 3%.

Net exports, however, were €172m lower than in the third quarter of 2004.
