Business group seeks nine-month freeze on minimum wage

The Irish Small and Medium Enterprises Association has called for a nine-month freeze on the minimum wage.

The association said it was seeking the freeze because, while businesses were generally optimistic about the future, many had identified labour costs as their biggest cause of concern.

It claimed the retail sector was particularly under pressure due to wage demands, with 58% of firms identifying the matter as their main worry.
