Agricultural output price index down 1.1% in October

The unadjusted agricultural output price index decreased by 1.1% in October, compared with September this year, while the unadjusted input price index increased by 0.1%.

The terms of trade index decreased by 1.2% in October.

Comparing October 2005 unadjusted agricultural price indices with the October 2004 indices shows that store cattle, sheep, cereals, poultry, milk and pigs were down 5.9%, 5.1%, 4.3%, 3.2%, 2.2% and 1.0% respectively, while potatoes, vegetables, cows for slaughter and finished cattle were up 115.6%, 5.7%, 2.5% and 1.0%.

Energy, fertilisers and veterinary expenses were up 19.8%, 9.6% and 1.6% respectively, while plant protection products and feeding stuffs were down 1.2% and 0.9%.

The seasonally-adjusted output price index increased by 0.3% in October 2005 compared with September 2005, while the seasonally-adjusted input price index increased by 0.2%.
