1,300 school-building schemes to be implemented next year

Minister for Education Mary Hanafin has announced plans to implement more than 1,300 school-building and modernisation projects next year.

Almost €500m has been made available for projects in the budget and Ms Hanafin said today that €277m would be spent on primary schools and €204m on secondary schools.

She said the schools to benefit from the funding would be announced at various stages throughout the year.
