Lorryload of chickens loose on road
15/12/2005 - 08:26:20Drivers were warned today to beware of chickens crossing the road in Cavan.
A lorryload carrying 5,000 of the birds crashed on the N55 from Cavan to Longford.
An AA Roadwatch spokesman said the southbound lane on the road south of Ballinagh was blocked and that chickens were flying loose around the road.
“All drivers are asked to slow down,” he said.
A Garda spokesman was unable to confirm reports that the chickens had started laying eggs on the road.
“We don’t do chickens,” he said.
