O'Leary impressed by Hendrie
06/12/2005 - 09:59:07Aston Villa boss David O’Leary admits Lee Hendrie’s performance at Newcastle has given him food for thought ahead of the weekend Premiership trip to Bolton.
Hendrie impressed in the 1-1 draw when replacing James Milner, who was ineligible to play against the Magpies due to the terms of his season-long loan.
O’Leary said: “Lee has not been out of the team because he is a bad player. He’s been out because a good player (Milner) has been playing well.
“I am trying to build up that level of competition for places here. That’s what I believe in.
“Lee has had to wait. He hasn’t moaned. He’s got on with it and I’m delighted for him. He had a chance at the weekend but I’ve also got to judge it on a lad who has been playing over a long period.”
