Shops warned of legal action over price displays
06/12/2005 - 08:22:20The Director Consumer Affairs has threatened to take legal action against retailers who fail to display the price of items like sweets and chocolate.
Carmel Foley said recent inspections by her staff had found that 92% of shops were complying with their requirement to display prices, up from 59% earlier this year.
However, Ms Foley said further work was still needed to improve compliance, particularly in the garage forecourt sector.
She said she would be concentrating on this sector in the coming months and would take legal action if garage-owners failed to take their obligations seriously.
