05/12/2005 - 14:38:43
Participation in sport drops by as much as 30% over the teenage years, according to a new study commissioned by the National Children's Office.

The drop-off is particularly marked among girls, 98% of 12-year-olds take part in sport, but only 68% are still involved by the age of 18.

Co-author of the report, Dr Aine de Roiste, said today that one-in-ten girls questioned would like to join a modern dance class.
