Postma set for Villa exit - agent

05/12/2005 - 10:13:19
Goalkeeper Stefan Postma is “90% certain” not to return to Aston Villa when his loan spell with Wolves ends next month, according to his agent.

Postma has impressed as the injured Michael Oakes’ deputy and has registered four successive clean sheets before Saturday’s 1-1 draw at Ipswich.

The current agreement between Wolves and Villa ends in late January but Postma’s agent Piet Buter believes a permanent move to Molineux or a return to his native Holland are the more likely options.

Buter said: “We don’t know what will happen but I am 90% sure Stefan will not go back to Aston Villa because some club will pay a small fee and he will sign for them.

“Of course, you can never say never because Thomas Sorensen may get injured but, other than for that reason, I don’t see him going back to Villa.

“We will review his situation and see if there is anything permanent at Wolves but there is interest from clubs in Holland if he doesn’t stay in England. I am sure something will be sorted out.”

Postma, 29, realised his days at Villa Park were numbered after Stuart Taylor was brought in from Arsenal as Sorensen’s number two in the summer.

Meanwhile, Villa midfielder Gareth Barry has praised the impact of James Milner since he moved on loan from Newcastle in the summer.

Milner was ineligible for Saturday’s visit to the Magpies but is set to replace the unsettled Lee Hendrie for the weekend trip to Bolton as Villa look to build on a run of seven points from the last three league games.

Barry said: “He has really impressed. He was probably fearing the worst after making his debut at West Ham when we lost 4-0. It was one of the worst games to come into.

“But young players don’t tend to fear anything. James just got on with the next game and he has been brilliant for us since then. He was in and out at Newcastle and, to really judge a player, you need to see them over 10-15 games.”
