ISEQ up in morning trade
05/12/2005 - 11:16:19The ISEQ index of Irish shares rose 20.36 points to 7022.44 in morning trade today.
There was an enthusiastic response to builders' merchants and DIY group Grafton's announcement of the acquisition of two businesses. Shares in the group were up 17c to €8.48 today.
Grafton announced today that it had bought Dublin-based plumbing, heating and drainage business Davies and builders merchants Garvey's in Roscommon.
Meanwhile, Ryanair, which today said passenger numbers were up 25% last month compared with the same month last year, saw its shares fall 2c to €7.48.
Fortunes were mixed for the financial heavyweights. Anglo Irish Bank fell 7c to €11.78, while AIB rose 8c to €18.70. Bank of Ireland saw the biggest rise, up 14c to €13.52. Irish Life and Permanent rose 5c to €16.15.
